HTC one m8 keyboard

I have an HTC one m8 and intermittently the keyboard won't come up. Restarting the phone usually fixes it but this isn't working. I cleared the cache and its came back up for about 5 minutes then wouldn't come up again and now doing that doesn't work. Any suggestions?

How long have you owned the phone ? If under 14 days then ask for a replacement.

If over 14 days first try a factory reset or hard reset which usually helps with glitches. Also ensure your on the latest available firmware by checking your software update section in settings.

As a reset clears the phones memory please create a back up to save what you want to.

If you bought the phone through Vodafone they give 24 months manufacturing warranty so you could pop it into a shop and they'd send it off.

If from elsewhere either approach them or approach the HTC Uk support site for assistance. (Recommend this as they'll know their hardware and software better )

Thank you, is it likely factory reset will fix it or just as likely it won't? I've had it since September 2014 but is the 3rd as has been replaced twiced due to other faults. Both these time resettng didn't solve the problem and despite using the HTC back up still lost all my photos but they are now backed up elsewhere. Am I just having bad luck with HTC or are they prone to problems? Also turns off the WiFi itself then vodafone kindly charge me for extra data when actually I've been in my house the whole time just the phone decided to disconnect itself!

I'll try the reset anyway cause its pretty useless without a keyboard!

Please let us know how you get on after trying other keyboards as suggested and if the reset works or not.

If not then I would suggest speaking to HTC UK Support as suggested.

Try another keyboard before you reset. There are lots to choose from in the Google Play store. Swiftkey and Swype are the two most popular ones.

Also turn off mobile data when you're on wifi to avoid using mobile data when you don't want to.
