IV19 - Tain "No service"

gholdsworth
1: Seeker

1) Does the issue happen in just one location? If so, how far do you have to travel to regain service?

This looks like the whole of Tain. In order to get a usable service, I've had to travel 35 miles into Inverness.

2) What is the full postcode (e.g. ST1 1AA) of where the issue occurs? If you don't want this showing on the eForum, add it to your profile here.

IV19 1JN

3) Does the issue occur if you try your SIM card in a different phone?

Yes - I have a friend, also in Tain, with the exact same issues.

4) What errors are seen or heard when the issue occurs?

"No service" on the screen. Unable to make or receive calls.

5) Does this happen on 2G, 3G, 4G or all?

2G only - 3G and 4G have yet to reach us.

6) When did you first notice this issue?

Monday 23rd January 2017

Last call I received at home was around 1pm on Friday 20th January.

7) Is the issue permanent or intermittent? If intermittent, are there certain times of the day when it occurs?

This is permanent.

Please note that I use my phone for work and so is therefore vitally important that this gets sorted asap.

Hi

Looking at the Vodafone Network Checker I can see....

"We're doing some work on our network in this area to improve your calls, texts and data coverage. Sorry if you notice any disruption. We're expecting to have things back to normal by 6pm 25 Jan 2017. Everything else should be working fine.~"

Have you considered a sure signal that creates a 3g signal in the home that works off home broadband but does cost a one off £69

Or Calling over WiFi is on an eligible tariff and accepted compatible handset.

Or have a Landline installed perhaps especially as you mentioned you need to be contacted for work reasons. I personally wouldn't rely on a mobile phone signal.

I have a landline, but my Vodafone mobile is the only way the work expect to reach me on. I do have my own personal mobile, which is on the Three network (and much better coverage and signal, btw).

I'd a person is on Pay Monthly then they can set up calls to Divert to another number in certain pre set situation.

Not sure if this will help.

I have looked at diverting calls to my other mobile, but couldn't work out how to do it, to just those when it's busy/turned off, on my iPhone. However, if it's all back to normal tonight, I'm sure I can manage until then.

Cheers,

Gerald.
