Hi,
I am a bit stunned after my experiance trying to get an Upgrade through Vodafone.
I upgraded a year ago and got a good deal on a phone and plan, but only after asking for a PUK code.
Last week tried to get the same deal for my daughter (same Phone, same Plan), having previously got a PUK code, but this time with no offer from Vodafone. I was told by Vodafone (web chat) that a cheaper deal could NOT be done. Note that the "Upgrade" path on the web site is even more expensive.
I like Vodafone's coverage, so I got a better deal for a new Vodafone account from Carphone Warehouse.
Then I contacted Vodafone to disconnect the old account. I said that I have signed up for new account and taken delivery of the new phone, but the operator in the "Custormer Loyalty!?" department told me smugly that "we can do a much better deal" and started telling me how much she could have done it for!!! I suspect the forum will block this post if i use the word that adiquately describe my feelings here.
Does anyone know if there an Honest way to get a good value upgrade?

My advice to people @G6andrew is..
Wait until your at the end of the contract and not the early upgrade date before trying to negotiate.
Ring 191 and choose Thinking of Leaving which usually gets you to the Retentions Department.
Ask for the Pac which shows you have an intention to move networks. Although if you dont actually use it then after 30 days it just expires.
A PUK is a code to unlock a sim card if the sim pin is incorrectly inputted several times.
The Retentions Department can give deals on tariffs and certain phones but even they dont have a bottomless purse.
Independents such as CPW can sometimes offer sweeter deals because they pass on some of the kickback given to them.by the network for opening up a contract / upgrading. They can also have a wider scope of phones to offer.
Be aware you become CPW Customer with Vodafone supplying the network connection. Also some discounts such as VEA Employers Discount isnt available.
Current Phone >
Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra 512gb.

I phoned to get my PAC, and offered a deal which I was told with my Advantage discount was similar to what I have now so accepted. A day later I went to apply the Advantage discount to be told it wasn't possible as it was already a discounted plan.
Lied to be the retentions agent, who should know better. Trying to cancel upgrade and get my old plan back to how it was before, but it's not easy. They applied an incorrect discount and the contract end date didn't change back from 2019.
Vodafone don't make it easy do they!

@chistery It's disappointing to hear about the problems you've had with your upgrade.
If you're still within 30 days of your upgrade, you'll be able to cancel under the The Vodafone 30-day returns policy.
Alternatively pop us and email using the instructions found in your private message inbox and we'll be able to discuss your options in full

Thanks for the reply @John, I raised a complaint and I think it's now all back to how it was before the attempted upgrade so I'll leave it like that for now.
