K3565 - Connection problems

Hi, I have a K3565 dongle and a PAYG SIM (the non-expiring £15 topup variety) which was working fine on my Lenovo ThinkPad Tseries running WinXP SP3 and VMC 9.4.4.17702 a few weeks ago.

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion dv6 laptop running Windows 7 and I can't get that to connect at all. I have upgraded to the latest version of VMC but still I get the Connecting dialog box with the increasing blue line but it just keeps cycling through forever but not connecting.

I wondered if it was something to do with the setup so I tried the dongle back in my Lenovo laptop and I get the same result...it tries to connect forever but never succeeds nor does it give any error.

I know that I have £0.70 credit because Check Balance tells me so it must be connecting at some level.

I have checked the APN settings and I have Custom Settings as follows:
Custom Settings
APN: pp.internet
Authentication
Username: web
Password: web

Are there any diagnostics I can look at to try and ascertain the cause of the problem?
Thanks, Dave.

Hi Dave White!

Hmmm... how odd! Can you try the SIM in a mobile? Does it find the network on either mobile or modem? If you can confirm that the modem is at least finding the network, this will be a good start.

Other than this, I would like to see your account and network transmission data, so will be sending you an email to get in touch. If you can reply to the email with the details required and we'll be in touch! :)

Hi Daz, in my mobile it finds the Vodafone UK network just fine. In the modem it finds Vodafone EDGE (4 bars signal out of 5) when I'm at home (SO32 2RS) and Vodafone GPRS at my workplace (S021 2JN).
I have received and replied to your email.
Thanks, Dave.
