I'm having problems making voice calls. Data works just fine. The symptom is that when the call is made there is a period of around 15 seconds of silence. The phone (iPhone 7) shows it is calling the number but no ringing tone is heard. When the call is answered (as indicated by the phone starting to time the call duration) there is sometimes no audio from the other end. When a call is established with audio it can suddenly drop.
Signal strength on the phone is strong.
The problem is also apparent on an iPhone 6 at the same location, also on Vodafone.
Calls to the phone from a landline connect, but if the landline call is terminated before the iPhone is answered the iPhone continues to ring. Only when the answer button is pressed does the call terminate from the perspective of the iPhone.
1) Does the issue happen in just one location? If so, how far do you have to travel to regain service?
Seems to be local to this postcode. Not done any exhaustive tests to check when things start to work again.

3) Does the issue occur if you try your SIM card in a different phone?
not tried this, but have the same problem with two different phones, both with VF sims.
4) What errors are seen or heard when the issue occurs?

5) Does this happen on 2G, 3G, 4G or all?
Phone indicates 4G, but I believe voice is not currently using 4G. (Or perhaps this has just been introduced and is the cause of the problem?)
6) When did you first notice this issue?
about a week ago
7) Is the issue permanent or intermittent? If intermittent, are there certain times of the day when it occurs?
no real data on this, I don't make many voice calls.

Hello,
Your local masts are indicating they are fine however a surrounding mast has an issue.
"We're trying to fix a network issue which might be affecting calls coverage. It’s being worked on by our engineers. We'll update this page as soon as we know more."
This could be affecting your signal as Vodafone could be re routing network traffic.
Vodafone hasn't implemented voLTE which is calling over 4G.
Can you try turning off 4G & 3G to force 2G which is a known Help technique to stabilise calls.

Thanks for that. I did go to the network checker page, but clearly you are better at driving it than I am. Is it true that VoLTE isn't yet running on VF? I thought I'd read that they had started, but I'm willing to admit that I'm wrong.

You're Welcome.
Vodafone has high-definition-voice-calls but voLTE is a feature not yet available on Vodafone Uk. (yet)
