Mobile Broadband - connection problem

jimcob
Not applicable
Dear friends, I have a Vodafone Mobile Broadband connection with a modem k4505-z attached to a Lenovo S10-2 Windows XP.Everything was working fine for a month now, but suddenly before two days ago and after running Tune up Utilities (www.tune-up.com) I'm facing the following problem. When I'm running Vodafone Mobile Connect I receive the message: There is no device, and when I go to My computer/properties/hardware/device manager I see Vodafone Mobile Broadband K4505-z with a yellow exclamation mark (!). Even If I go to control panel phone and modem options and I click on the modems there is only the bluetooth modem there.I have completely un-install the application and re-install but the problem persists.Any help will be highly appreciated. Best Regards, jimcob

Hi jimcob, welscome to the eForum!

I can see what's happened - Tune Up Utilities has managed to affect the drivers for the device, indicated by the exclamation mark.

To force the computer to load the correct drivers:

- Go to Device manager > USB

- Right click "Mass storage device" and select "Update Driver Software"

- Click "Update Auto"

- If most recent drivers shown, uninstall and reinstall

- if old drivers then install latest.

Then repeat similar steps for any other yellow exclamation marks displayed.

Once the drivers are in place, if iot still fails, can you try the dongle in a different USB port for me in case one has beciome corrupted, and in a different PC to separate the dongle from the computer it cannot connect wuith and see if the error follows.

Let us know how you get on!
