Network issues - Connection Problem or Invalid MMI Code

Ok excuse the rant.

We received in the last 2-3 weeks two new (?) Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017)'s.

Firstly one of the charger cables was not working and I now have to go to a Vodafone shop to get this exchanged.

Secondly in the last week or so, we have not been receiving sporadic(?) calls.

My partner is saying he has called me and I havent answered and yet my phone is not ringing, or showing any missed calls!  I am unsure how long this has been going on, but have noticed my phone has been quite quiet lately.

Anyway, spoke to someone on chat this morning who told me to turn the volume up!!! Its on FULL and always has been.  It is not showing any missed calls!

They then asked me to dial **61*121*10*30# which I thought was a function only to extend the ringtime?  but they insisted I do it, so I tried!!! Upon hitting the dial button it said "Connection Problem or Invlaid MMI Code" - they had no idea why I was getting this or how to resolve it!

The only resolution I had was to restart the phone, which appears to have cleared the problem, but there is obviously an issue with this phone and I do not want faulty, potentially previously used phones that are suposed to last for a two year contract that are failing within the first 2-3 weeks.

In addition when calling my partner, 80% of the time, he sounds like a darlek!

@Susie_T – I’m sorry to hear of the problems you’re having.

To change how long your ring time is, you need to call: **61*121*11*25# which is different to what you posted above.

When you speak with your partner and this happens, is he or yourself usually in the same place each time? If so, this could be a network issue. If he’s on Vodafone, please try the steps in our network troubleshooting thread.

If you're still experiencing the issue after completing these steps, post the template with your answers here and we'll get back to you ASAP.

If it’s not network specific, please let us know:

  • Does this happen when you speak with anyone else?

  • Have you tried your SIM in another phone and tested it?
