Solution

New User Connection Problem

Hi,

I'm a new user of Vodaphone mobile broadband and I;m having a bit of difficulty getting connected to the networks. Hopefully someone might be able to let me know what I'm doing wrong.

I've installed the program Vodaphone Mobile Connect Lite and it's managed to find both the device and the network. But when I click on the connect button, I don't get connected to the network, Instead I get a blue loading bar that fills up and then starts again endlessly.

I've left this running for at least 30 mins without it connecting.

If anyone else has had this problem or has an idea of what I'm doing wrong. Please let me know.

Hi Fraser

I'm sorry to see that you're still having a problem getting a connection with the Top up and Go usb :(

Have you tried any of richie1913 suggestions?

Have they helped at all?

Also have you been able to try the modem with another laptop as this will help us get this sorted out for you if we know where the problem lies.

Can I ask, are you trying it in the same usb port all the time or have you tried it in other port's aswell?

I know it sounds like a daft question, but sometimes the laptop picks up the usb and allows the connection when you try a different port than normal.

Please let us know how you've gotten on, especially if you've found another way to get it working.

Many thanks

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestions. I've given them a try over the weekend but I’ve still not managed to get connected.

Creating a new connection seems promising though as there isn’t a Vodafone connection in the network connection folder, but after I had been through the wizard I got a couple of error messages.

Cannot write Phonebook
Error624: The system could not update the phonebook file

Unable to create the specified connection. This can be caused by insufficient memory or not enough disk space

I found a couple of solutions to this error here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812442 and I'll try them out tonight.
