Have you tried the reset + unplug the internet cable? This has fixed the issue you are seeing for a couple of people over the last week.
Press and hold reset for 10 seconds
remove the power and network cable (keep reset pressed)
After 10 seconds plug the power back in
Wait for all the lights to light up, release the reset button.
After 20 minutes or so, plug the network cable back in and it should start to download the config files again.

Thanks I have already tried that a few times and again just now. The result is "No 3G Signal - Lights 1,2 &4 Solid "
Does the info I gave in my first post help ?

No help to me, as I'm only another end user.
Am sure it will mean something to the guys at VF when they get to the question - which they try to do within 24 hours, but that could slip at busy times.
Another thought, and again you may have tried it, can you change your postcode on the registration to somewhere miles away from you, then do another reset.

Thanks for your help .... I didnt try re-registering the SS. But it started working again a few hours after the re-boot. I believe that disconnecting the network cable for at least 20 mins was perhaps the thing I hadn't been doing.
