Nokia Lumia 520 Unable to connect to email server

My Nokia Lumia 520 was set up to access my company email account and worked successfully for over a year.

After I updated a securtiy certificate I can no longer contect to the server.

It wants an new password but when I enter the correct password it does not recognise it and appears still to be sending an outdated password.

I have resorted to a hard (factory) reset but this makes not difference.

Any help gratefully recieved.

Paul

Hi Paul,

What e-mail account are you trying to access?

Its my corporate email account via a MS Exchange

You may need to speak to your companies IT guys.

Current Phone  >

Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512gb.

  1. Click Advanced Setup
  2. Select Exchange ActiveSync
  3. Complete these fields on the screen:

    • Email address
    • Password
    • Username
    • Domain
    • Server

Your email provider will be able to give you your Domain and Server details, if you don't know them already.

Do not take the tick out of the 'Server requires encrypted (SSL) connection' tick-box.

Internet email - Click this option if you're using a web-based email service like Yahoo.

Complete these fields on the screen (you'll need to scroll down your screen to get to the last couple):

    • Account name: this is the name that will appear against your email account.  This is really useful when you've set up more than one email account on your mobile as you'll be able to tell them apart easily.
    • Your name (this will be the 'friendly name'): this is an easy-to-read name that you'll see instead of your full email address when you're selecting which account you want to send an email from. It's easier to use friendly names instead of multiple (lengthy) email addresses when you have more than one email account on your mobile.
    • Incoming email server: you can find the name of your incoming email server from your email provider. BT Connect is outlook.office365.com
    • Account type: this will be either POP3 or IMAP4 - check you're the settings of your email account if you're not sure.
    • Username
    • Password
    • Outgoing (SMTP) Email Server: you can find the name of your outgoing email server from your email provider. BT Connect is smtp.office365.com
  4. Click Sign in and the process is finished - your emails will start to download on to your mobile right away.

Hope this Helps.

Hi

I've done all that several times before and it makes no difference.  It still wants me to update the password.  When I do it still won't let me in.

I have double checked the domain and server details with my corporate IT guys and they are at a loss to know why it won't work. They can connect to my account from their Android phone.  It just this Nokia Windows phone that is proving a problem.

I can access the email account via my computer.

Is this a ploy to force me to upgrade!
