Hi All,
I've seen a few posts here referring to the removal of client side optimisation to tackle a lot of problems. What is the down-side of doing this please? Will my Mb usage be much higher?
Thanks

Hi Jelliot,
Lepetitlapin, is spot on here, by removing the Optimisation option on your modem it simply means that it loads a web page as it would appear on a normal computer with a fixed line Broadband connection.
The main differences you may encounter would be;
Higher data consumption due to full graphical content,
Possibly slower load up as is loading full graphical content.
If you have any other questions please let us know.

Thanks for the response. Is there anymore technical information on this? For example, removing it was suggested as a fix for .zip files be re-compressed in an unrecognisable format. This is slightly more than simple image scaling...

...Unfortunately the optimisation client was developed by a third-party, and so we don't have any specifics of how it works...

With compressed files, the act of trying to compress them further can sometimes mean that information is lost, and the file cannot be recovered.
With an encrypted transmission, such as a website using https:// addresses, the same thing happens - after the information has been translated by our compression software, and uncompressed at the other end, it no longer exactly matches the original - and this causes the entire translation of the encrypted transmission to fail also.
