Problems setting up pay as you go dongle

Hello there, I hope someone can help me. I'm trying to get my mum on the internet so decided to go down the route of pay as you go vodafone dongle, because she will only use once a week or so, to check emails and do limited web-surfing.

I bought a TopUp and Go Mobile Broadband - 1GB.

I plugged it in to the USB slot and switched the computer on but it does not load. I get an error about administrator settings - but I have just loaded Windows XP onto the computer so shouldn't have any restrictions on administrator settings. Could the problem be because I am only running Windows XP? It says it is ok to run on Windows XP on the back of the box but when I read the booklet that comes with it - it says I need Windows XP SP2. Could anyone clarify this for me....

From the sounds of the error, it maybe that the account you are trying to install this on, isn't the administrator account. Can you confirm what account type you are logging into your PC as?

SP2 is the second service pack for windows XP. From time to time Microsoft release windows updates and service pack updates to the operating system to fix bugs and security holes etc. You would need to have installed SP2 as a minimum requirement.

If you right mouse click on my computer, and select properties. You can identify what service pack you are currently using.

My best suggestion would be to use a third party internet connection and install all windows updates that are outstanding.
