Hi - does anyone else have this issue. When in the middle of a phone conversation I somehow manage to put the caller on hold and phone someone else... apparently I am doing this with my ear? but I have no clue how to do it if I actually wanted to. Does anyone else have this issue ie is it just me/my phone... and if you have had this issue how did you remedy it?

Which phone are you using ?
Do you hsve a screen protector fitted or a case ?
This sounds like the phones proximity sensor issue.
If nothing fitted then if a factory reset after creating a back up first does not help then Vodafone supply a 24 month warranty on the phones supplied by them. The iPhone is 12 months. They could send it away for repairs.
Or approach the manufacturer themselves via their uk online support site.

it is a vodafone ultra smart 6, and I have no case on it.

Ok so if nothing is hindering the sensor and a factory reset does not help then perhaps take it into a Vodafone Highstreet Store.
Take Time / Date stamped pictures of the device to show the condition you sent it back in and one of it turned on.
"Also make sure when sending your device for repair that you keep hold of your SIM. You also shouldn't send your memory cards, battery and/or back cover (if they're removable) - if these are included with your phone when it goes for repair we can't guarantee their return."

It might be an idea to take a look at your phone call settings.
You may have activated call waiting and for an incoming call to be answered automatically. There is further information on call waiting on the link below.
It is surprising just how sensitive the buttons are, you only have to slightly touch the buttons.
If you are able to auto rotate the screen, at least it won't be a repairable proximity sensor issue.
If you have any further problems, a Vodafone Store will always be able to take a look at the phone and give help and support.
