Ras720 Error -> K3565 On Dell Xps M1530

Hi there,

I just bought PAYG Huawei K3565 and can't connect from my
Windows Vista Laptop.
I've already downloaded newest VMC from webpage, updated drivers and all that didnt help.
I've tried to use it on my Windows PC and everything was fine.

The only one idea I had was, that there is a conflict with my built in mobile modem, but i've tried to switch off the device and finally i've removed it. As u can imagine, it didnt help :D

Do u have any idea what else I can do?

Is there a problem with Windows Vista? ( 32 bit )

Thx

Hey there eLPe21,

It's a shame to hear this, and I'm confident we can get you running again. As you haven't provided a lot of technical info, can you try / let me know the following please?:

- When plugged in, what colour does the modem light flicker, and does it flash in single or double 'bursts'?

- Have you tried booting with the modem already plugged in?

- Is the modem detected by the VMC (as in it displays a network to connect to, but fails to connect)?

- Is there an error message? If so, what does it say exactly?

- Can you try another USB port?

- Can you check your Services.msc (Start > Run > Services) to make sure that Remote Access Auto Connection Manager and Routing and Remote Access are both enabled / started. If not, enable them, save and restart.

On this last note, I must state that we're not Microsoft accredited technicians, so any changes to Windows will be at your own risk. The disabled services in the services.msc has been something I've found to cause problems, though I have no way to explain it (sometimes the Window breaks in mysterious ways ;) ), but enabling it usually does the job.

Let us know how you get on, and any additional info will help us and the community help you better!

Hi Daz,

I've already reinstalled my windows vista and problem is solved however i'll try to answer some of your questions:
-it was green, not sure but i would say it was flicking in double bursts
-no i haven't, but i was trying to restart computer few times
-yes, modem was detected correctly, and i had good network signal
-the error msg when i was trying to connect wasnt anything better than what i wrote: RAS CODE ERROR 720. It was about saying about checking software conflicts in accessing device, trying to connect later and in the end to call support :D
-I've tried different usb port, same issue

-No, i can't, windows reinstalled :D The thing is, that I'm IT Specialist so it is possible, that I've made some changes in services, but it's too late to check.

Windows breaks in mysterious ways? :D i would say it breaks in very straight forward way with BSOD :D

Best regards...

ps. Is there anyway to use the simcard from that modem with my built - in mobile modem? I've tried to insert it into my modem but i've got a message that simcard not detected? That was strange especially that i've bought my laptop with your simcard which i've never activated (i'm not intrested in contract broadband) VMC install my mobile modem without any problems.

Hi elPe21

I'm glad one thing is resolved, even though t did require a full OS re-install, :(

Regarding the inbuilt modem, have the modem drivers been activated (i.e. the native modem software for the particular make of the computer, if the sim is not being detected this may be an indication that the modem itself isn't being picked up.

If drivers are in place, the installed VMC9.3.6 should pick it up once you select 'inbuilt modem' from the installation menu, the built in modem icon would appear as a laptop (second icon) emitting a signal.
