I previously posted a message about regular unwanted messages Vodafone to my Sony Experia phone. Now I'm being told to re-register. Can someone please explain to a complete novice how this is done, and in view of my problem, what I should re-register for?

I cannot see any suggestion to De Register from anything in your original thread so assume you've had some kind of discussion with customer service.
If they've reset your account/ account settings then maybe they are referring to your myvodafone, as a stab at an answer.
