looking at the specs of the s8 I couldn't help notice that the s8 has dropped the edge panels and it made me realise how little. I use it and how Samsung have dropped it
I would love to know there reason for dropping it
So I have decided to turn of the feeds and the edge lighting (of which I have been trying see have not seen it once) And The Only things I see on the edges with screen off is s health steps
It will be interesting to see how this effects my battery life
which I must admit that was one of the benefits of the nougat update
I can now get up to 11 hours of screen on time with medium power setting and reduced brightness but I also use a gear fit 2 which I got free with my s7 edge which is great for notifications and to see who is calling whilst out and about and not having to dig in my pocket and use it for Spotify
I must say it is a great addition to the s7

Hello @SKYMAN513
I'm sure the s8 and s8+ still has those edge panels when I played with demo models and viewed YouTube videos.
Samsung have dropped the 'edge' name because this year both s8 models have these edges.
Last year the s7 didn't.
Personally i use edge panels quite extensively from quick tools, people's edge, fast notes and device maintenance. However I've never used the rub the edge feature to read a ticker tape style notification or the colours that flashed on the edge to highlight who was calling you from your chosen contacts.
As I've always had them turned on I've not been able to notice difference in battery but I always get through a day or even too and I consider myself a power user.
