I have a Vodafone Smart 6, with a

Total Space of 8.00GB,

Systern ROM 4.01GB

User ROM Total 3.99GB Available 629MB

User ROM 3.37GB Total used of 3.99GB

I have tried to put in a SD card size 32GB, and it stops me from installing apps, and cannot transfer anything on to it, it is formatted all OK,

someone said it was a too bigger card for the phone,

what size is advised for this phone,??

Thanks for all the help, problem solved, I went into local shop and after he tried it and said it was loading to slow, he took a closer look at the SD card and said he thought it was for a camera, he tried one of his in the phone and it loaded faster and he transferred things over and installed an app and all is now well,

So it was the SD card which was not right, still think it a mystery but all is well and I am happy again,

thanks for all your help.

Hi,

Not all phones will allow adaptable storage as suggested in your previous thread Android/Message-on-phone.

ie Move Apps from the phones storage to a Sd Card.

"p to 64 GB (dedicated slot)" from gsmarena.com/vodafone_smart_ultra_6-

Current Phone  >

Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra 512gb.

Thanks, this is all getting beyond me, if there's space for a SD card, cannot see why it will not work, 2, people have tried for me and said the same thing, can't see why it does not work, will have to go into shop,

Just wonderd if the person who said the card was to big, could be right,

Hi,

I agree all phones with Sd Card capabilities should have this option.

I use a Samsung Galaxy s7 edge which has adoptable storage options which allows me to move certain apps from my phones storage to the Sd Card. It won't allow the baked in apps to be moved across. When I go into my settings to where the apps are listed it gives me the option to move the app is available to do so.

I believe some previous models of Samsungs didn't allow the movement of apps from its memory to the Sd Card.

So the feature of moving Apps from the phone to Sd Card is firmware / phone feature dependant.

It's not dependent on available memory on the Sd Card or dependent on make of Sd Card.

The reference to "stops me from installing apps" is slightly odd - do you mean you can't install them to the phone at all, or that you can't move previously installed ones to the card?

Firstly, I assume you're using the system file manager and not a 3rd party one?   It's a security feature of Android (since 5, I think) that only system apps can write to removable storage.

You could try formatting the card in the phone.  Go to Settings|Storage and there should be ab option there.   Some devices are picky about sd cards, but tbh I thought the problem tended to start above 32gb rather than at that size.   Some makes of card can be problematic, too.

Camera cards are usually faster rather than slower than general purpose ones, so I wonder whether the card's firmware was timing out?   The thought had occurred to me, but I'd rather dismissed it and I still think it's unlikely.   It could have been a slow card, I suppose, but most are moderately quick these days and I haven't had any trouble with an ancient one that came out of an old Nokia featurephone.

Was it a known brand or a generic?  Some of those latter can be dodgy.

Glad you're sorted anyway.
