Samsung Note 7 to return?

Interesting story that Samsung are looking to sell refurbished Note 7's (presumably with new batteries) subject to localised authority and carrier approval and public demand.

I'd certainly have one if it was proven safe. Thoughts?

I saw that.   It's a brave move because the Note 7 is effectively toxic and it's only going to take one problem to damage the brand all over again.   I believe Samsung have been under pressure from green organisations to say what they were going to do with all the returned devices - dismantle and recycle rather than send to landfill seems (unsurprisingly) to have been the preference.

The blogs I've seen seem to suggest they may but only in specific countries but not the UK.

Then another write up said it was just rumour.

They'd have to be careful which countries.   If it looks like dumping dodgy devices on unsuspecting markets, that wouldn't do their reputation any good.   I wonder whether the rumours are Samsung gauging reaction to the idea?   After all, they do have to do something with them.

As it was the batteries that were an issue rather than the hardware or software, I'd be happy to have one if it can be shown that the batteries are fine.

You may well be able to get some cracking deals as well if they are keen to shift a load of phones and recover some losses

As far as I'm aware they were looking to re-release it in Korea only with a modified(smaller) battery that didn't expand and explode.

I imagine they would have some difficulty getting a company to ship it globally, at least on their home turf they don't need to worry so much about that

There's that many stories going around on different blogs at the moment about the note 7 some of them are saying the note 7 will be renamed but to what no one seems to no yet. Others are saying the only country it will not be on sale in is America but will be on sale in all European countries which includes the uk and will have the same batteries as the new S8
