Please help guys n gals,
Yesterday the touchscreen stopped working on my phone.
After a 50min phonecall, it wouldn't let me hang up or shut the phone down as it wouldn't respond to any touch commands.
I removed the battery and when i powered it back up, the display had a thin verticle green line the entire lenght of screen and the touch still didn't work.
Today, I still cant use it but more concerningly the screen is now virtually all black (like a spray paint kinda pattern) with just a little bit of the bottom of the screen still almost visible.
Obviously something is drastically wrong, and i realise it will need repaired but how can i access the data on the device [remembering I can't use the screen] before it goes back to the shop for repair?
Hopefully some of you clever people can give me some advice.
Thanks
Stiv

Hi
Are you able to connect the phone to something such as Samsungs Kies software.
Hopefully some of your saved data is in the Micro SD Slot.
If a Hard Reset as described here does not help (beware this process can delete saved data) and the issue is hardware related then please consider contacting Samsung UK Support for assistance as they maybe able to guide you and if a repair is required then they know their software and hardware better than anyone.

Hi B-of-B1,
Yeah, I tried that last night.
After eventually working out that the device needs to be unlocked (I had a screen lock) before it will present the contents on the phone through Kies, and after numerous attempts and poweroffs, I eventually managed to tap in what I thought was my PIN and it made the unlock noise! (using the Stylus it still seams to recognise the odd touch input). I could then get to some Photo's, Vids and PDF documents, etc I was trying to retreive. I also created a back up of the device using Samsungs other, newer PC tool 'SmartSwitch'.
This morning however the screen is showing no signs of life unfortunately, so I got there just in time. Hopefully together with my Google sync'd data, I'll only loose a few things.
I'm off to Vodafone this morning to return it for a repair. Here's hoping its not silly money to get the screen replaced/fixed.
Thanks again for your help.
Stiv
