Samsung S5 Wifi Slowness Issues - still unresolved

I think I have now read every thread online about the issues with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and I am yet to resolve my issue.

I don't have any problem connecting to my home or work Wifi and I have a strong connection with both. This issue lies in the speed I get. I often can't even load a webpage and last night I couldn't even load the router settings page 192.168.0.1. to change the router channel which I had tried previously without success.

I have the new Sky Hub 2.0 router and Sky Unlimited broadband.

I have used the speedtest.net app and I get pings of over 1,000 ms and download speeds of under 0.2 Mbps. This is the case for both my work and home wifi. My wife has an S4 and this connects to the same wifi without a problem and receives pings of 28ms and download speeds around 6Mbps.

I tried the following which I found here http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/galaxy-s5-problems/4/ :

Potential solutions:

  • Always start by turning your S5 and your router off and on again. Sometimes that does the trick.
  • Make sure that you haven’t set Wi-Fi restrictions related to the power saving mode in Settings > Power saving mode.
  • Head into Settings > Wi-Fi and choose your router, then tap Forget and set up the connection again from scratch.
  • You can also choose your router in Settings > Wi-Fi and scroll down to tap Edit > Show advanced options and try changing IP settings to Static.
  • Take a look in Wi-Fi > Settings > Advanced and make sure Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is set to Always and that Always allow scanning is checked.
  • Download the free Wifi Analyzer app and take a look at how busy your channels are. Too many devices on one channel can impact on speeds, so switch to a less crowded channel.
  • Check MAC filtering on your router and make sure it’s off or that the S5 is listed (you’ll find the S5 MAC address listed in Wi-Fi > Settings > Advanced).
  • You could also try updating the firmware on your router.
None of these have helped or solved the issue.

Do I have a faulty handset or is there something else blocking my wifi connect?

I look forward to hearing any suggestions or common issues and hope to get this resolved asap!

Thanks

No. Not selected. I lost patience and did a hard reset on my handset and that had solved the problem. Thank you for your reply though.

Do you have the Smart Network Switch activated ?

I have had problems when the internet connection is poor or I am on the edge of the wifi range
