Sim card in the Mifi R203?

I've just bought a Mifi R203 device. I tried to register the number on the Vodafone website it sent an activation message to a phone?

Does it use a normal payg phone sim card or is it supposed to a mobile broadband data sim card?

I rang Vodafone and they said its possible I got a phone simcard instead of a mobile broadband sim, is this possible?

Hi 87015,

The message that you got is a standard message that is displayed once registration is complete.

If you pop the SIM into a phone, you can receive the text message with the code.

I think it's now working. I forgot to go into Vodafonemobile.wifi in can get the messages from there. Problem is I've kind of semi registered and but the activation code is out of date as I didn't realise I had to ho into the Vodafone Mifi to retrieve messages.

If you go to the registration page again, you can request a new code to be sent through.

I tried to use it in a pub and eventually connected, as I was passing a Vodafone store I went in and he had a word with a tech advisor he had a look and he checked the Simcard and he confirmed we were given the wrong type of simcard a phone simcard he swapped them for a mobile data simcard.

I've not tested it yet.
