Suresignal unit overheating and turned itself off?

Hi, this my first post so hopefully looking for advice. Have suffered similar issues with sure signal v3 device to others from what I can see on the forum - unit disconnects after a period of time etc. bit of a blow as we live in a 'poor' reception area. However, this morning no signal as it would seem that the unit has overheated and no longer functioning, whilst plugged in and switched on at wall. No lights on the unit either. Is this a known problem out there? It is ow working again, but concerned that this will re occur? Previously had a v1 unit for about 4 years and no issue at all which influenced us in renewing full family with vodafone, but this new v3 has given us issues since purchased and given the added issue of the overheating our previous confidence has been replaced by genuine concern. Any thoughts / guidance?
Thanks

Hi Keo,

If there's a fault with your unit I'd strongly suggest sending it off for a repair. Much like the phones we provide, the Sure Signal has a manufacturers warranty that you can take advantage of if problems occur.

Cheers, Ben

Hi, this my first post too and also looking for advice please; specifically replying to this thread as appears same difficulty? Got the new sure signal (plug version) yesterday and although it seems to be working thus far it gets incredibly hot, query potential fire hazard and naturally genuinely concerned. To the extent that unplugged all last night and tried again today. Plugged into mains socket, i.e. no extension lead etc.

Vodafone, please respond and advise?
Keo, what was the outcome re your query please?

Thank you

Hi LoyalCustomer0,

We've not seen any reports of the Sure Signal (VSS) becoming a fire hazard. It will cut out automatically if it gets too hot and all the lights will flash.

The main thing is to check that the VSS is somewhere well ventilated. Like a computer, it will heat up with use, so you need to ensure good airflow around it.

If you are concerned, you have a seven working day period when you can exchange the VSS for a new one. After that you have the option for a warranty repair as mentioned above.

Hi Dave/Tech Team

Thank you for your response. I am somewhat reassured though do query the heat level from the sure signal plug unit, I have not known any other appliance plugs to emit this level of heat, including laptops (besides kettle itself :Winking_smiley: !

Vodafone Sure Signal users out there, what are your experiences please? I.e. ok for usage and/or did you return units/ any difference following that?

Would appreciate feedback, many thanks

Mine gets hot but how can I tell this causes it to switch off? I have only had it a week or so and judging by the number of VF customers with the same issue of having to reset every couple of hours I can't see the point of returning it if the whole supply is suspect.

Hi evanowen,

You will know if it's not working due to it overheating if all lights are flashing continuously.

Thanks,

Kay

How can you tell if wireless interference is an issue?

Hi evanowen

Is it possible for you to switch off any other wireless devices that you have?

Thanks

Sukhi

The problems was my BB upload speed is only 448 and the V3 SS needs 1.5, please add that to your notes.
