Switching from Plusnet to VF fibre - good experience

sIn light of all negative threads in here I decided to write my positive experience with Vodafone (so far).

About three weeks ago I came to this place for some info regarding the switching process and I cant say I was happy what I saw. I know that normally forums like these are mostly filled with people moaning about the service but this place is on another level. My conclusion was that switching  will be nothing but a suicide :Winking_smiley:

Still lured by a great deal and problems with VOIP in one of my games I still decided to give it a shot and signed contract about 2 weeks ago. My activation has been schedulled on the 6th of March. Up untill midnight on the 5th my old connection was working fine and I went to sleep knowing that the horror will start on the next day. When I woke up my internet was not working (as expected) so I hooked new router and went on my pc around 8am just to see whats going on. Turned out the switching process was done and new connection was aready live! Wow! Now, it was not over for me yet as I have a quite a home network setup with my own router (Netgear d7000) with a whole amout of cr*p attached to it. I promptly lauched a chat with Vodafone and in a matter of 10 minutes I had my PPPOE username and pass ready.

Since that day I did not have any disconnections and all stuff works just fine! I hit about 95% of speed I had with Plusnet which fine for now as I know connection needs to “settle” for some time to get optimal speed.

So far I’m really happy what I get for my money and will recommend VF.

Hi,

I’m in the exact same boat as you.

Off in the morning, back on an hour later... live chat details, own router... back up and running... saving £10 a month going forwards.

I can still do everything I need at any time of the day like (4K YouTube) through WiFi at peak time etc

Nice work

Wait till u been onit 2weeks lol.hope it’s fine for you snd I’m moaning as I have a mentally disabled daughter that needs internet to relax her mind st night.i get 0.66 at night from 4pm till 12am then back upto 70 mine was fine for first 2weeks.atb

Sorry to hear about your problem. I hope they resolve it soon. The reason I posted about my experience was to write that its not always doom and gloom as this forum made me to believe when i first came here.

Hi,

Thats the thing I’ve been with Vodafone since October 2017 for the fibre 38 package.

Having your own router seems to be the common fix.

I've been about 2 weeks and it's been fine for me as well. I'm using Vodafone's own router, which seems to be every bit as good as the Asus I was using before. I've had zero dropped connections or error messages in the logs. Speeds have been better than my last ISP CloudScape. It slows down a little at peak times, but still over 60mbps using wifi. During normal hours it never dips below 70mbps over wifi.

Mine was great for 2 weeks as well, speeds never dropped below 60mbit/s.

For the last two weeks? This is what you can expect, this morning until midday it was 30mbit/s, this was was 4pm, tonight I'm expecting the 2mbit/s I've had for the last week... I'm leaving, the service is shocking. Waiting on the phone for 1hr/1.5hr for someone to tell you there's nothing they can do is utterly frustrating.
