I tweeted vodafone here: https://twitter.com/unixsteve/status/626811501261783041 but was told to go here. It is not just an unattractive dialog box, it actively trains users to accept dodgy-looking dialog boxes, which is the kind of behaviour which leads to them inadvertently installing malware. All relevant info is in the twitter thread; sort this out, Vodafone.

Apologies that you feel this way.

It’s just the way that the software has been designed. I'd recommend keeping an eye on future updates which may include such changes.

That is NO GOOD. Look at the terrible English, and the prompt which says "prompt" !! Pass this to vodafone security / social engineering, it is criminally poor result of outsourcing. The "design" is OK - warn if connecting to unsecured WiFi. The IMPLEMENTATION is the problem.

Seriously. If you do not understand why this is a significant security problem, go read some Bruce Schneier, but in the meantime, pass it on to Vodafone security / phishing / malware Android team. Keep passing it up until someone gets to read this who understands that you, on a Vodafone forum, telling users to click "OK" on a dialog that looks as bad as this, is the kind of sloppy oversight that can hurt customers, and by extension, hurt Vodafone too.

Vodafone have apparently accepted that it needed replacing - this is the current one (with a software update from a couple of days ago). This is a much better message; at least it doesn't look like malware written in a student's bedroom as their first attempt at creating an Android dialog box
