VEA Discount when changing tariff

EvilSmoothie

Hello,

I want to increase my plan and am aware i need to fill out the form again when the package changes.

I was told i will also need to pay a £10 fee.

I know if i take out a new contract the discount is reduced to 15% (currently on 20%) and a £10 fee applies - but if im keeping the same contract do i really need to pay this fee. I only have a few months left on contract so relucant to pay a fee as will be charged it again in a few months.

Called 191 again today and they said i wont be charged the fee and the discount wont change but systems were down.

Whats the official line on this?

Hi @EvilSmoothie

You may be keeping the contract for the minimum term but you are changing the contract.   When you complete the form you are rejoining the Advantage scheme and need to tick the box to accept the £10.00 membership charge. Unfortunately, this means you will still be liable for the £10.00 membership charge.

However, if you do not wish to pay the charge, it won't be any harm using live chat and asking if it is possible for them to do a goodwill credit.  They may decline but if you don't ask, you don't get.
