Vodafone Mobile Broadband - I'm Getting Constant IPv4 loopback

I'm running Windows 7 64bit and have the Vodafone Mobile Broadband via the phone (v2.4.20.3031) loaded. It works without a problem but while it is running and the phone is plugged in, the phoneconnectorvtp.exe process is constantly sending a ping to the loopback address. I'm concerned whether this will be generating network traffic across the phone and causing charges.

Just wondering why it is doing this? Is it testing that the plugged in network is still there?

Hi Mark

Welcome to the Vodafone eForum. :)

The broadband via the phone software isn't one of my strong points, and it's not possible for me to contact one of our data specialists out of hours.

To ensure I get the correct information for you, I am going to email one of my day shifts collegeues, and get them to check this out tomorrow for you.

Hi Mark101,

I'm not entirely sure on this one so I've asked the question to our data specialist, as soon as I get an answer, I'll let you know.

Hi Mark101,

I've had word back from our data specialist already. The address that this pings to is local and so doesn't go over the network so you shouldn't see any effect on your usage. We're not entirely sure why it's doing this, however we believe it's just be testing the modem.

Ok, just seemed strange and can cause a problem if your diagnosing some other fault as you have to filter out its traffic to see what your looking for.

But thanks for the reply.
