Thanks to DPH for his usual excellent advice
Firstly I would uninstall the Vodafone software and reinstall it. If you have the CD that came with the USB I would use that as the method to reload the software. Then, after the reboot at the end of the install process, plug your usb in and test.
Please advise of the postcode you are in if the problem remains.
