Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 has hardly been out of the news since it launched in August – mainly for the wrong reasons.
The subject of a mass global recall after reports of devices catching fire due to faulty batteries, the official launch of the device in many countries has been delayed as the Korean tech giant tries to find the cause of the fault.
Elsewhere, such as in the US, Samsung has already began issuing replacements, although recent reports have suggested some supposedly ‘safe’ Note 7’s have been giving off smoke.
Now, incredible images show the moment when one of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 smartphones explodes into flames when pressure is applied to its battery.
The alarming images released by Reuters, come from the Applied Energy Hub in Singapore, which carried out the test on the Note 7 battery.
The photos show the device can be seen giving off smoke before it explodes and then bursts into flames.
Images of the aftermath of the test reveal the blackened and burnt remains the Note 7 and its battery.
Samsung has claimed that most of the devices which are potentially fire prone have been recalled.
However, for many, the damage has already been done, with a reported $16 billion being wiped off Samsung’s share value following news of the recall.
