Can the Vodafone FTTC/VDSL router be configured to work with a Huawei HG612 modem as supplied by BT?

@machare the Vodafone Connect router has a VDSL modem built in so there is no need to use the Openreach Modem. You can connect the VC router straight into the phone line.

Having typed that out I suspect you're trying to achieve some kind of unusual setup though..?

The WAN port is not active on the vodafone router and has a sticker over it saying as much.  People on other forums have tried to see if there is any activity on the WAN port and have concluded there is none.

This would make connection to any upstream modem pretty unlikley.  The vodafone router, for now, has to be the device connecting to your phone line via the A/VDSL phone port on it.

Additionally there is no settings within the scant firmware to turn off the modem within the Connect router, not to allocate another port as the WAN port (for example).

Thanks.  Pity 😞

@machare I can only suggest contacting customer services who can feed back your disappointment at not being able to use your own equipment.

@Nabs.  It is a pity that they adopt this approach, as their slower FTTC is attractively priced.  At the moment I only have an ADSL connection, but BT have now said that all exchanges will be upgraded to ADSL2+ by the end of next year, so as I am fairly close to the exchange, I should get nearly double the current speed which would be an improvement.
