You can delete stock Apple apps in iOS 10

Excerpt from the above link....

"These apps include Calendar, Weather, Maps, Videos, Notes, Reminders, Stocks, iTunes Store, Home, FaceTime and others that currently come pre-installed on iOS devices, and are not eligible to be deleted or even hidden. We’re guessing important apps like Phone and Messages are still mandatory.

This is a big deal for a few reasons. For one, it will allow users to clear up extra space on their devices if their storage becomes full. And two, those who don’t like the stock apps can now delete them and use third-party options. The inability to remove stock apps has long been a pain point for iOS users."

My Thoughts....

For some users this isn't a big thing / deal breaker as typically a Stock App does not take up too much storage space. For others having Apple dictate what can / cannot be deleted irks them.

I'm personally not keen on Apple forcing an App such as the 'Tips' and 'Watch' Apps.

Update.

Removing System Apps in iOS 10 Does Not Actually Delete Them

Source : iPhoneHacks.

Excerpt from the above link......

"Craig Federighi has now clarified at the Talk Show Live podcast that when a user deletes a default app, merely the user data, system hooks, and extensions are removed. The app binary itself still remains a part of the OS and occupies storage space. This is because these apps are a part of Apple’s signed binary and thus cannot be removed from the OS. This is also the reason why system apps in iOS receive new features when the whole OS itself is updated."

"Since user data and system hooks will be deleted, some space will be freed up, but it will be miniscule to say the least."
