iphone 5s signal coverage is terrible

I have been with Vodafone for 20 years and recently acquired an iphone 5s.  The number of dead spots with no signal is a joke!  My previous Blackberry, Samsung, Nokia phones all had great network connections.   I can sit in the car with my personal Samsung Galaxy and the iphone and the iphone signal disappears all the time and the Samsung stays rock steady.

Is there anything i can do with the iphone to improve its use as a PHONE!

Hi

Try On the iPhone hold down the Power & Home button together until  Logo shows then release both & the iPhone will reset

Other options are :

Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings.

Make sure your carrier settings are up to date - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201270

If these don't work or via restoring the iPhone via iTunes and your sim works fine in another make of phone then if you have a local  store you could book an appointment via https://www.apple.com/uk/retail/geniusbar/ for them to run a diagnostic on it.

If it's within 12 months old they'll typically swap it out in house if they can't remedy the issue.

The Genius Bar employee will advise what they can offer.

Thanks for the tips.  I am nervous to reset network settings as this is a works phone and worried they have applied some settings that will then disappear?

@jevon88 it might be worth speaking to your employer to see if they have another iPhone you can try. Since your other personal devices are fine it would certainly suggest that it's a device specific issue. If it's a faulty device your employer should be able to get it replaced under warranty

Hi

I fully understand your apprehension and of course performing this is at your discretion.

The process resets network settings and does mean any wifi passwords etc would need to be re entered.

From  link https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204051

"Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before."
