just upgraded and confused about text receieved

I have just ordered an upgrade. I received a text saying that my number is about to be transferred to my new sim but I don't have my new sim yet. As I've just ordered. What does this mean? Does it mean that my currently sim won't be usuable?

Sometimes with an upgrade that includes a phone Vodafone would send out a blank new SIM card incase your original sim is not the right size to fit into the new phone. 

The upgrade / new tariff happens on your account so your original sim should work as normal. So if your upgrade involves a new phone and your current sim is the right size to fit in the new phond then you should be able to use that as normal. 

Vodafone IMO wouldn't sim swap your number to a sim that you haven't got. 

For further clarification perhaps ring 191 tomorrow now as they are closed or use Live Chat.
