I have googled this problem and done all the fancy things the tech advisers mentioned but to no avail. All settings checked etc, but looks like the phone needs to go for repair..... last ditch attempt in putting this out for discussion. It's a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge,

Are you using one of the baked in sounds or one you've downloaded your self in regards to the tones?
What have Vodafone Tech advised which hasn't worked ?
Has it worked before? If so try going into Safe Mode which disables all your 3rd party apps which will help highlight if a rogue app is causing the issue.
Is Sound definitely turned in in your pull down from the top of the phone shade ?
I assume your using the stock text app from Samsung?
Have you tried clearing it's cache and cookies ?
You could try turning the phone Off and go through a set sequence of button pressess to enter into the phones file system and clear the system cache.
Perhaps try one called textra from the Play Store.
As a very last resort back up and factory reset.
Also a Samsung Experience Store or Samsung Service Centre location can help too.
