@baronvonzubb I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I have a Smart 4 Mini, and I've had a look at the settings for that. I seem to have two calendars, one which I assume came as standard, the other a Google Calendar which I installed!
Looking at the one which presumably came as standard, if I launch the calendar, go to Settings then General Settings, there seems to be an option to turn on Reminder settings, and then you can select a ringtone.
Looking at the Google Calendar, if I launch that, and go to Settings then General Settings, I can turn off the standard tone, then I can choose what tone to use instead.
I'm so glad that you asked this, as I have now been able to fix the problem of two birthday reminders for every birthday, helpfully alerting me at midnight! I just hope that I have also managed to provide you with an answer.
I see that you had posted earlier on the Xone board. As you obviously realised later, that was the wrong place, so I'll move that post into this thread, to tidy it away.
Annie.

I'm sorry that it hasn't worked for you, but as you say, another Calendar might be the easiest solution.
I'm glad to report that it seems to have worked for me - family birthdays come thick and fast in late October, and the alerts at unsocial hours are mercifully silent.

I discovered aCalendar a while back, which I like for the layout and has quite a lot of customisation options. I've chosen my own notification tone on an HTC One. There's a free version which does most of the things you'll want, but I thought it was so good I paid for the + version that adds a few things like tasks and email notifications.
It runs on top of Google calendar, which you need to have installed, so you may need to turn notifications off in that to avoid getting two.

Thanks for that, @hrym. I found aCalendar easily by searching in Google Play, and it looks interesting! Now that I seem to have got my notifications under better control, I might give that one a try.

I should have added* that I like it so much I sprung for the paid version (albeit during a half-price offer). It's the only paid-for app I have and I also have the warm glow of having help the tapir. :smileyhappy:
I don't know whether this works with all paid apps, but one purchase has covered all my devices.
* Edited to add:Oh, I see I did!
