I have been trying to do a little research on this. I bought my S4 mini on contract via Carphone Warehouse. According to sammobile.com/firmwares/checker/ which has a list of updates the uk vodafone firmware update was added on 30/6/14 as shown below:
PDA: I9195XXUCNEA
CSC: I9195VFRCNE4
MODEM: I9195XXUCNEA
Version: Android 4.4.2
Added: 2014-06-30
My phone still says I am on Android 4.2.2 and there are no updates available via the phone. I dialed *#1234# to see the following info:
AP: I9195XXUBML4
CP: I9195XXUBML4
CSC: I9195BTUBNA1
My Phone CSC has the letters BTU which on sammobile refers to unbranded and on selecting the UK BTU option alongside the phone model it shows the following that matches my phone:
PDA: I9195XXUBML4
CSC: I9195YTUBNA2
MODEM: I9195XXUBML4
Version: Android 4.2.2
Added: 2014-02-24
I am starting to think that Carphone have given me an unbranded model and now I won't get the update to Kit Kat 4.4.2.
Can you shed any light on this please as pretty much most other S4 mini users around the world seem to have the upgrade.
Thank you.

Hi @jrrl150273,
Unbranded models tend to get the software updates quicker.
I've had a quick search online and can see that some information suggests that Samsung are looking to push out the update to unbranded handsets by the end of November.
This isn't guaranteed and as I say, it's just information I've found after having a quick search.
Thanks,
Matt B
