Has anyone else been bombarded with ads and pop ups on the lock screen since the latest software update? If so how the hell do you get rid of them?

Personally I choose to accept cookies.

And acceots them when I'm surfing onto a website.

Some information about them here > Internet/all_about_cookies.

The info given is sometimes in general because different phones have different options in settings and indeed the navigation to find them can be different. If you have a local Vodafone High street store the staff there will only be too happy to walk you through the phone , it's settings and features.

Thanks again. Sadly my nearest VF store is somewhat of a trek (15 miles!) and they weren't at all helpful last time I treid to get to the bottom of something! But hey ho. Greatly appreciate your help and advice! x

Hi

A factory reset takes the phone back to the last update and yes it does typically wipe the phone of your content. Also it's advised to remove any applicable Sd Memory card.

Most phones now have a Back Up and Reset option in its settings.

For contacts I also use Gmail.

For other content I also choose to use Dropbox. This is an online vault. Google should help explain how these online vaults work. There are quite a few.

So before performing a Factory Reset it is imperative some form of back up is carried out.

Just to add: I've never see adverts on a lockscreen and this does indeed sound odd.   There are settings that allow you to control what appears on the lockscreen and this would be another place to look - though this normally offers widgets and notifications as the options.

Hi again. Yes, this is what I thought was odd too .. all VF banged on about was blocking pop ups etc from internet pages and that's not the issue!!! And there wre LOADS of them!  Thing is now, since I've been fiddlgn with it, (*touches wood*) I haven't had any yet today.... just wish I knew what had stopped it! I do seriously wonder though whether the setting 'interest' ads had something to do with it..... and God alone knows where I'd find anyting to control what's on lockscreen... just ahd a quick look and discovered.... nothing!

I had these appearing on my Xperia Z5 Compact & Z4 Tablet, was driving me crazy.

If you long press on the advert in the notifications panel (a feature I didn't know about), an "App Info" option appears. The app generating the ads, for me anyway, was the inbuilt "File Commander". Yet another way of them trying to get you to pay for the full app. No thanks.

Now this IS intresting...... but sadly I can't get it to work. There's a thing called 'CM Treasure Chest' which keeps popping up (on my lock screen) and I have NO idea how to get rid of it. I do know that something is draining my battery like no tomorrow though!
