hi all, i have a ultra 6 (6 months old) and the screen is dead on the left hand side, about 5mm wide.it started off with the w,s,s and hash key playing up. and the 1st thing to go was the back button. it jumps from page to page. it frezes on pages shuts down when it wants.
i have taken it to vodafone, shown them all the feed back on the web about back button problems. ( the teck guy was not intrested at all about this) and they sent it off. i got a phone call to say it would cost me £66 as i had dropped it. its always had a mark on the left hand bottom corner which i thought was the plastic shipping cover on the back ( i still have it on) but was told its a crack so i must have dropped it.it took 10 days to be sent away, when it came back it was fine for about a week then slowly it started to play up. it has had 2 full reboot and its always the same.
thanks guys

@vergerpd This is going to be an "I said he said" situation.
You will have to prove the crack was always there and unless you have photos to prove it that will be difficult. You may be able to show that the button worked OK after it was returned to you so the crack did not have any effect on the phones functions.
When sending a phone away it is always advised to take photos of the phone to show its cosmestic condition and ask the store staff to make a note of its condition on the return docket.
It may be worthwhile having a chat with Live Chat to explain the situation to see if they can help you at all but as I said it is one person's word again another's.

Hi @vergerpd
I assume that you relented and paid for the repair.
If so I also assume the work carried out is under warranty and if so if this was my situation I'd resubmit the phone back to Vodafone to be looked at again if a system cache reset didn't work or maybe even a factory reset which may not as this could be hardware related.
Ask the instore employee to make notes of its condition prior to sending off too.

i did not have the work done as they wanted £66 and a new one is 110.

Totally understand what your saying.
The repair cost against replacement for a new one speaks for itself.
Unfortunately repair centres , manufacturers and networks see things like this as black and white. External damage which can be attributed to issues wouldn't typically be covered under manufacturing warranty.

as i said the crack has always been there, but i have always thought it was the molding of the case, and it was pointed out to me when they sent it off.
what i am getting at is you can find lots of problems with back button and screen problems on line. nut vodafone just done want to know, saying its been caused by me.
