Static IP

Hi,

When I first enquired about Vodafone Fibre I was told I could have a static IP address on home fibre.  I have since joined Vodafone and now it appears this option has been removed.  Will this option be reinstated or is it gone for good?

Thanks

Rob.

Hey

I was one of the first people to get Vodafone Fibre, I was never offered or saw that Vodafone offered static IP's

As a gamer, I would have gladly taken a static IP if they offered it, but they dont.

However, you can create a static IP on the Vodafone routers to your machine / console.

Just post and I can let you know how its done. Sadly when you only create a local static IP to a machine, however your IP will change as its a Dymantic IP on Vodafone packages. However, keeping your router on all the time will allow you to keep the same IP until either it gets turned off or reboots.

Let me know :Smiling:

..or better still set up a hostname with one of the several dynamic ip services, such as https://www.noip.com/ so that the hostname is updated whenever you receive a new ip address.

Hi,

According to the "Vodafone Home Broadband and Phone Price Plan" dated 11th December 2016 that I have, static IP addresses are not only available they are free on request (see page 4 & 5).

I've attached a copy to this post. Hope it helps.

Cheers

Del

How interesting. I've not seen that document before. I sense someone re-writing it as I type.

I wonder if the IP would be from a range recognised as static by the various DNSBLs around the world, and whether Vodafone would be willing to set up requested valid reverse DNS for said IPs.

Would be nice to be able to send mail via SMTP directly rather than rely on a third party.

Oh that document is interesting.  Can I have my free static IP Address too please.  Save me having to bother with a dynamic hostname and would cut out DNS entirely for my VPN connection - I could just go straight to my static ip..

That would be great.   LEt me know how I request this VF.

Can I ask if anyone managed to get a static IP in the end?
