Hi, I've  just switched over to Vodafone broadband and all works OK  BUT  I've paired the booster, netgear N300, to the router but when I try to connect a device to the booster  ,EXT network , its keeps saying i've entered the wrong password.

I'm not computer savvy and disabled so please go easy on the replies

Thanks o

The previous reply was obviously A.I. generated, so I would pay much attention to it.

Which actual model of extender do you have (N300 is it's wireless spec) and have  you followed the trouble shooting steps on the Netgear site?

@Jayach  I was thinking that looked a bit "AI" too.

With many WiFi extenders, you have to follow the setup instructions like an absolute pedant, and don't second guess anything!  There will be a default username and password for the extender that'll be in the documentation, which is different to the WiFi SSID and password.  If you cannot access the menus on the extender it may be best to reset it and start from scratch, so you'll be connecting to the extender SSID and then log into its menus with its admin username and password.  Keep it simple and get it working, before you try to tune it to any individual needs you have.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. The only step I haven't done is step 2 reset booster password, I don't know how to access  the settings and if I'm capable to doing this.  The helpline hasn't been able to resolve this issue.

I'm considering cancelling my contract with Vodafone as I'm within the 14 days period. It seems a bit drastic for such a minor issue

When you say N300 do you actually mean the WN3000RP? This repeater/extender is over 12 years old and is based on wireless technology of the time. That means a really basic 802.11n connection and a sync speed of 300 Mbps (210mbps actual maximum throughput in ideal conditions).

There is a distinct possibility this repeater/extender is incompatible with this more uo-to-date router.

Hi, yes the meant  the WN3000RPV3  . DATED 2015

so i purchased a brand new tp-link booster and paired it  to  the router and still have the same issue, so two booster can't be faulty.

With not being computer savvy and have a disability I'm starting to feel fed up with all this hassle.

Any idea what to do next,

Thanks for all your help and advice with this

As in many cases the version of the device makes no difference, the performance and abilities remain the same.

I believe both these devices can operate as either repeaters or extenders. From your posts I believe you actually want repeater mode - wifi to wifi? You have to set a different password from the router in extender mode. Extender mode keep the router's wifi password.
