LGTV connection problem

Since joining Vodafone broadband, I have been having issues with my smart LGTV. It was often failing to remember the network password, so I had to regularly reconnect.

This evening it would not connect at all, saying "Could Not Establish a Connection To Access Point"

I connected the ethernet cable instead. The TV says it is connected, I can go on apps such as iplayer and the ITV hub, but when I select something to watch, it wont stream.

There is clearly a connection as it finds the programmes and in the case of ITV, even plays the adverts, then just fails to run.

Any idea what's going on and how to fix it?

Thanks

You are not the first to have this exact problem, and it no only seems to affect LG TVs but other brands such as Sony, Samsung, and a few others.

If you can get a connection at least by ethernet cable, then changing the DNS servers in the router menu won't go amiss:

8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4    Vanilla Google DNS

1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1   Vanilla Cloudflare DNS (one from Google and one from Cloudflare could be useful)

1..1.1.2 & 1.0.0.2   Cloudflare with malicious sites filtered

There are many others too, but that's a whole other post!

That should at least get you watching your TV via an ethernet cable- unless it's done something odd during the TV set-up.  If you still have issues then personally (and others will disagree) I'd go full nuclear and reset the TV as if it were a new installation!  *Probably not what you want to hear on Xmas day*
