I've searched the Web high and low and simply cannot find an answer. I've seen numerous people change DNS settings and it work, well for me regrettably it didn't.
I bought and installed my PS5 yesterday and immediately plugged it into the router directly. Now, I will say, my router is awful and doesn't work how it should. I've spoken to support loads of times and they have never pinned down the solution.
I moved my router but whenever I unplug it I lose the Internet and it takes hours of restarts and retries to get it back. The 5G backup dongle has never worked, despite Vodafone claiming it is plug and play.
Anyway after about 5 hours of turning the router off and on, waiting 5 minutes then turning it on to wait for another half an hour to do it again, the Internet finally came back on.
Great, finally I thought! Only it won't connect. I've tried a different cable. I've had this issue before but with my phone over WiFi. It stopped accepting the password and wouldn't let me connect to the Internet, despite everything else reconnecting.
My amazon firestick won't load the homepage (this happened last time) but clicking the Netflix app allows it to load and be used fine. Infuriatingly, on the PS5 clicking troubleshoot and network connection takes me to the PS5 network status in the browser on the console! But sure enough, it still fails to connect to the Internet for anything else!
I don't know if i have a dodgy router (Vodafone refused to replace it before as there wasn't an issue when I spoke to techies) or whether one of their support messed up my router settings, but I'm utterly fed up. This happens if ever I have to restart the router and I get the red blinking light of death on the Internet.
Using a SIM tool/pin to try and reset the button does nothing either. I've tried for over 30 seconds and I'm certain it clicked as I can feel and hear it, but it doesn't do anything. At all. Fed up and my PS5 is currently a paperweight with Astro's Playroom on it!
Any help appreciated. And the Google DNS and open DNS settings on the PS5 don't work. I also tried WiFi and it connects to the router fine but doesn't allow Internet, same as LAN cable. When the Internet is on its amazing and I get 900mb/s. The problem is it's only on 80% of the time on 90% of my devices and support is useful 0% of the time!

Hi, it's the THG3000.

The THG3000 is not a bad router, but Vodafone have limited the setup options with their firmware. From what you say it doesn't sound to me like a faulty router.
I'm still on FTTC, so haven't actually used it on FTTP.
As you are on FTTP the connect time should be pretty quick as all the router needs to do is authenticate, no line negotiation as there is with FTTC.
The backup dongle is 4G not 5G, but you shouldn't need it so no problem. Whilst you are testing it might be better to have it disconnected, so it doesn't confuse things.
When factory resetting the router, hold the button in, and all the LEDs should come on and extinguish one at a time. Continue holding it in for a few more seconds after the last one goes out, it should definitely be reset then. You can also reset it from the firmware interface.
If you connect it to the ONT without power (on the router), and then power it on it should have the best possibility to connect without the DSL function confusing things.
Once you are happy that the router is connecting fine, you can move on to the PS5, but if that isn't working properly even on Ethernet cable, it's difficult to guess what the problem could be.

I managed to reset it yesterday and it is working (for) now! That's a good sign. A Vodafone tech couldn't reset it his end but I managed to reset it my end. This keeps happening with it getting "stuck" like this. Whatever he did trying to reset the router must have been enough for it to then allow me to reset it with a SIM tool because prior to that it wouldn't. Honestly I'm just relieved!
