I have just got one of these: TP-Link 3G mobile Wi-Fi M5350 and plugged a pay as you go SIM into it and topped the SIM up with £10 of credit and an extra £5 of data. The credit is showing on the SIM card when I look at the SIM online.
I just can't get the device to connect to the internet. It connects to the PC (Windows XP) but under Network Status it says "Disconnected". I#'ve tried various APN settings, but none work.
The information it requires to set up a new profile:
Profile Name:
APN type: pick either "static" or "Dynamic"
APN: I've tried "internet" and "pp.internet" and "wap.vofafone.co.uk" and "smart"
Username: I've tried my own username on my Vodafone account, and "web"
Password: Again I've tried "web" and my own password
Authentication Type: "Auto" or "PAP" or "CHAP" or "None"
Please help, I'm pulling my hair out. I thought this was going to be easy.
I'd phoned the TP-Link helpline and spoke to a nice lady, but she said it was the APN settings which I needed to get correct from vodafone.
Solved! Go to best answer.

The SIM card must be a Data SIM, not a mobile SIM.
Solved.
Thanks.

I have same problem. I have TopUp and Go Mobile Broadband dongle with SIM which works OK. I want to use SIM in TP-Link M5350 Mobile WiFi but I can connect to M5350 but it will not connect to Internet. What do I need to do ?

Yes those are the correct settings.
As that device is not something we supply, we’ll be unable to support it.
I’d suggest going through your working connection, to see if there’s anything additional, that may be missing.
