Your ire may be directed at the wrong people here. Disconnects like this are likely to be down to openreach or Cityfibre. It could be possible there's a hardware fault on the router you were sent.
While I've not had a great experience with vodafone, for the price it's still a bargain (my case excepted).
Get in touch with vodafone at http://vodafone.co.uk/bbservc and see what they say.
While it may still be vodafone that's at fault the odds are very low in your case.
