Broadband installed Monday and working perfectly however landline still has no dial tone. I have a green light on the router. Number was being ported and Virgin disconnected it Monday. Realistically how long should I wait for connection?

Thanks for responding. Router is the Vodafone supplied Power Hub. Phones are BT VOIP enabled that have been used without problem on VM router for many years. My understanding from engineer who plugged it in was that it should be live within 24 hours even allowing for number to be ported. Still waiting.

Unfortunately the power hub doesn't seem to have a separate "phone" indicator LED, so I'm not sure how you can be certain the phone service has been enabled. (I don't have the Power Hub, perhaps someone who does could enlighten us?)
I would think the best thing to be sure would be to ask Vodafone, live chat would probably be the easiest way.

Live chat just refers me to articles, no option to communicate with a human being.
My power hub does have an LED on it that says it is connected.

Strange, that link should have passed you on to a human. you will need to call Vodafone to confirm the status of your phone service.

But I believe it just has just the one LED, so I don't know how it can signal the broadband is working, but the phone service not being provisioned. The previous router (THG3000) which I have has 5 separate LEDs.

Do you have a normal (non voip-enabled) phone to test with? Beg one of a neighbour if need be as it's only for a test.

I ported my landline from VirginMedia yesterday, my broadband is fine. I am able to make a call from my landline to my mobile, however I cannot call my landline getting a number not recognised error. Having spent time with support this morning they claim it can take 48 hours before all functions of the landline work, a totally ridiculous amount of time, but some of that could be caused by VirginMedia, I'm sure if I was going from an OpenReach to OpenReach supplier it would have been instant. I'll wait the 48 hours and see if it starts working. The problem I will have is I will be moving to my own router and not using the Power Hub, Vodafone won't give SIP details now so I'll probably end up having to move the phone to a SIP provider if I want to keep it.

Finally got through to a human at Vodafone and after all the usual nonsense said try it now. Was able to make outgoing call and receive incoming but still no dial tone. Asked what they had done and they said nothing. All Vodafone could offer was "it's working". So yes, working after a fashion but no dialtone on any of the three landline phones. It would seem Vodafone support as hard work as Virgin, one of the reasons I left them.
