Landline phone with own router on FTTP

Just got FTTP and everything is working fine off the VF router. Phone lines are plugged into the VF router, VF router's WiFi is switched off. 3rd party Mesh has been switched to Bridge mode and plugged into the VF's ethernet port.

However I am shocked at how feature poor the VF router is. e.g. There are no Parental controls at all. I know I can get rid of the VF router and plug my own Mesh router into the Openreach ONT, but what about the Landline.

Are there any 3rd party routers in the market that have a telephone socket at the back to allow the home phone to be plugged in?

So, my current list of compatible devices:

HT801 - ATA
HT812 - ATA
WP810 - WiFi Phone (tested by myself)

WP820 - WiFi Phone (two line version of the above)
GXP1625 - Wired Phone

If anyone wants to add any others please do so. I'd like to see some non-Grandstream devices turn up here, particularly cheaper devices as the main hurdle is cost. As I get hold of devices I'll test and add workers.

Can you clarify on the WP820? I believe it won't work due to the lowest allowed local RTP port being 50040, but only 10000-10010 are useable on Vodafone. This issue doesn't apply to the WP810 which works fine. I use the WP820 but via an Asterisk client.

Port forwarding is the work around for that.

Incidentally I'll be getting a wp820 for myself this week.

I’m surprised VF doesn’t have a Digital Voice App yet, you could then use any mobile as your landline.  Has anyone tried with any of the free VoIP apps like Zoiper Lite?

There's settings that mobile apps like zoiper just don't cover. Even the Grandstream app isn't detailed enough. Besides it's a bit difficult to use the specific vodafone dns servers on a mobile.

I'm giving up on having the phone and VF Hub set up within and existing network for now. Cant get it working.

It might be a simple forwarding issue. But it's outside of my understanding for now, based on what I've tried so far.

The vodafone router will never work behind another router. It's programmed for a PPPoE connection on the WAN port and nothing else. LAN to LAN connections will never work for the phone as it's a simple switch with that connection.

@Ripshod This is my thoughts. But I haven't dug that deep in to it so far.

As you say, it works fine as a LAN-LAN switch. But the phone routing may be from WAN to Tel1/2

But saying that, I do get a dial tone. So something is happening with it connected up. The phone connection is just not registering fully, so it's not a continuous dial tone.

@Mark I'm not looking at a normal set up here, so I'd imagine Tech support wont help.
