Hi, I had Fibre 2 installed (by Openreach engineer) on Friday and since then have not been able to receive incoming landline calls. People ringing my number get a ringing tone but the handsets don't ring and the call is not logged as a missed call. I have got a dial tone and can make outgoing calls on my current handsets.
I assumed the problem was that my handsetswere too old so I purchased some new ones, which were marketed with 'digital' in the title, but it was not until I read the instruction manual that it stated they were for analogue landlines. (And they don't work either)
I am not clear if I need a VOIP phone or a VOIP adapter to make this system work - there don't seem to be many available and they all seem very expensive. I found a post on the forum which said the Vodafone's routers contain an ATA (analogue telephone adapter) but post was from a few years ago so may no longer be the case. Vodaphone's bumph seems to suggest I just need their little adapter with the green end which goes into the modem.
Please can anyone suggest/recommend a reasonably priced set of landline phones (double, or preferably triple) which actually work with the router?!
Alternatively can anyone confirm if it is normal to have a dialtone/be able to make outgoing calls on a non-compatible phone, or is it an indicator that my phones are actually compatible but there is a fault specifically with incoming calls on the line?
TIA

I remember that, however I'm sure the DSL cables were only 2 pin, and so some phones didn't ring.. Presumably that is why they are now providing the "VoIP adapter"
Perhaps @noblerinthemind will let us know if either the VoIP adapter or 4 pin cable helps.

@Ripshod and @Jayach many thanks for all your comments.
The cable coming out of the base unit of my phone and going into the adapter with a green end has 4 pins. The DSL filter supplied by Vodafone has 2 pins. The DSL filter is plugged into an extension cable which is wired into the wall socket so I wouldn't know how to check that (if it would even be relevant)

@Jayach is it possible /likely that my 'VOIP adaptor' is faulty? However, it is not just that the ring signal is not getting through to the handsets, none of the calls (tried form landlines and mobiles) are registering at all despite the callers getting a ringing tone.

Sounds like a service issue then. Best get in touch with vf in the link at the end of this post and raise it with them. Someone has missed a button or something.

As @Ripshod says, if it's not just a lost ring signal and you can make outgoing calls, then it is likely that the problem is at Vodafone's end.
On a different subject though, it is not recommended to use a phone extension cable on the DSL connection, you are likely to be losing speed. If you need the router some distance from the wall socket, get a longer DSL cable.

@Jayach thanks for the tip about the DSL cable. Just to check, that is one coming out of the DSL Filter and going into the router?
After much phaffing about, getting me to pull out and re-plug in cables and reboot the router, Vodafone announced that my line had not been activated, due to some sort of glitch. So I am now waiting for that to happen and to receive an activation email, so I can see if 'activation' does actually solve the issue. I don't understand how I can have working broadband and outgoing calls but not be activated but heigh-ho.

Yes, the filter should be connected to the master socket and the DSL cable goes from the red internet socket on the router to the DSL socket on the filter. Any non-twisted pair cable in that run will cause problems, and phone extension cables are usually non-twisted pair. DSL cables can be bought on-line in various lengths.

@Jayach when you say 'VOIP adaptor' do you mean the item pictured, as supplied by Vodafone? In which case yes I am using it.
Thanks for the suggestion to try picking up a call from my mobile. I tried this and the landline continued to have a dial tone even though my mobile had ringtone. I also tried ringing my mobile from the landline and it showed incoming call from the correct landline number (as this was something I hadn't thought to check previously).
