My original Gigacube 2 year contract ends this month. I have spoken to retentions and they have given me a £ price for a SIM only Unlimited Max Speed 5G. This is much reduced as after 2 years the router cost premium is paid for.
TalkMobile (where my handset SIM is currently) have quoted me £4 less a month for the 'equivalent' SIM only as part of an existing customer deal.
I challenged Vodafone retentions to see if they could match, but they said they could not, and additionally they stated that a talkmobile SIM would be incompatible. I know this to be an 'untruth' as I have often had to insert my TalkMobile SIM to fault find on my router and it has worked. Another statement they made was it was not incumbent of them to 'unlock' the router for any ISP at the end of the contract as they would be obliged for a locked handset. This I cannot validate.
What I am looking for help and experience with;
Critically, Would I get poorer performance from the TalkMobile unlimited 5G data SIM?
Please only respond with evidence, fact or science. 😊

Yes @Grinds Talk Mobile is part of the Vodafone brand, with the business based in Newbury, you will receive exactly the same network as going directly through Vodafone.
The only thing Vodafone may be offering is a Gigacube contract, but this should be no different to any other mobile broadband contract.
Network are forbidden to lock phones but as the Gigacube is a Vodafone product it would work with a TalkMobile SIM but wouldn't work with an alternative network SIM.
Hope my reply helps.
