IP address when abroad then using Opera VPN

Hi there,

I use my phone abroad as a hot spot for my Mac laptop and am used to the internet thinking I am in the UK although in France.

Formerly I used Opera browser (which has a free VPN) on my browser to let UK sites know I was abroad to watch football. This did not work at the weekend in France as the VPN would not connect and testing Opera in the UK I am getting the same results i.e. the VPN will not run. I have recently refreshed my phone contract and today have ensured that adult content and Securenet have been disabled .

I have used Opera on my Vodafone Home Broadband and the VPN works so Opera is not the immediate issue.

Using Opera Ver 70.0.3728.71; MAC is Catalina 10.5.5 but will go to 10.5.6 tonight

Laptop quite happily works with/without VPN when on Vfone BB. When on Mobile hotspot, works when no VPN but then can connect to VPN whether Optimal, Europe, Asia or America. Stop attempting to connect to VPN and search returns results immediately.

I am now using Opera VPN using my wife's phone. When did Vodafone restrict their service as a message came saying the service was stopping connection? Extra info by using a tablet.

Following the info you've passed over, I can't seem to think of any reason why we wouldn't be allowing this, unless it's unsafe. I know above you mentioned you'd been assured that your content controls and secure net has been removed, I'd certainly advise double-checking this as if they haven't, you could get them removed.

Despite apparently being able to reset the adult restriction online then apparently being able to do this via the phone helpdesk, it now appears to be done with another call.

Disappointing that something as straightforward as this takes so much effort.
