If you were on a desert island... 🏝️

I'm going to go ahead and create an off topic thread on one of the oldest clichés ever... If you were on a desert island, what three things would you take with you?
Mainly because I want to get to know all of you a bit better (and because I find it really fun).

Basic Rules:
- You can't say an airplane, boat, jetpack etc. I'm looking at you @Mark

- You can't say my family, my friends or, Bear Grylls - you've gotta get out of this alone!

- Other than this, you can take anything you want - nobody's judging!

My Choice

- A tent with all the add ons

What would you need a tent for on a hot island I hear you all ask?
I'm going to want this for shade and coverage.
You can also use the poles for fishing!
The string will come in handy.
You could also use the waterproof material to gather water!

- A machete

So first of all I'm just going to throw this out there - I don't know what lurks on this desert island!
I can use this to chop down trees and to prepare food.
I'm going to need to be able to spark a fire with something, or use the shine of the machete to focus the heat of the sun on a specific point.

- A survival guide (waterproof preferably)

As you've probably guessed, I AM NOT a survivalist and I'm going to need some survival techniques and tips If I want to sail back all the way to sunny Stoke!

As you can probably tell from my previous post, I spend lots of my time thinking about hypothetical situations. If we do have any survival specialists out there that want to give some pointers - please feel free 🏝😃

Please let me know what you would all take!

1) a Robin Hood costume - So when I arrive on the island I can have a fancy dress party.

2) a rubber duck - so I can balance it on my head incase I need to hide in a lake from cannibals.

3) a trumpet - incase I need to win favour with a difficult child :Cry_Laughing:

My island would need a power source for my devices or at least a wind up hand generator or i wont go :Winking_smiley:

  1. Swiss Army Knife (that has a magniying glass to start a camp fire. )
  2.  Canvas and rope.
  3. Ice Skating Boots (In case of tooth removal requirement.)

My survival skills are little to non existent in everyday life, never mind on a desert island 🤣

Like @BandOfBrothers I'd want my devices too!

Apart from that on a (dreamland) desert island I'd want:

- Shelter

- An unlimited supply of food (where this comes from, I'm yet to figure out)

- Hand sanitiser...for my fear of dirty hands 😂

I think I've basically just described my dream holiday, rather than a desert island 😉

If I had all of these though, I probably wouldn't bother coming back 😂🌴😎

Who says I'll want to escape @John it'll be nice to get some piece and quiet away from you lot 😛

I'd like a few barrels of petrol, a generator, a Satelite dish, TV and a deck chair.

That way I can keep up with football and get a cracking tan.

These are some great answers - @JohnJ yours cracked me up and I'm not surprised yours is football related @Mark :Cry_Laughing:

So if I was stuck on a desert island, I'd want to have these things with me:

A waterproof coatI don't like the thought of being stuck in a rainstorm without a coat! And it'll keep me dry while I struggle to make a shelter.

A hairbrush - This sounds silly but I've tried to think of it in a way that makes it more useful. My hair is very long and knots easily (especially in that sea air!) so I don't think using a wooden stick would get the job done! I'll need to be able to see what I'm doing on this island without my hair getting in my face, and I can sharpen the end to make it into a useful tool :Winking_smiley: (Can you tell I don't want to cut my hair off :Cry_Laughing:)

A good book - Probably something like a thriller with a lot of twists and turns to keep my mind occupied. Maybe a collection of books all in one though so I don't have to keep re-reading the same one! May as well get back into my reading while patiently waiting for my rescue  And if push comes to shove it'd make good fire starting material...

I realise that none of these things will give me a headstart in the surviving department, but I like to think this magical desert island has plenty of resources to keep me going!

Gotta get your priorities right @Tash. There'd be no point coming home if you're out of touch with the football :Cry_Laughing:

Interesting Topic.

Depending upon what length of time I have to spend on the Island,

Lighter

Need to light that fire.

Tent (Bed for the Night and Hammock for the Day)

Need to be able to keep from weather elements

My Tech Pack (Samsung Tab S3, Dongle and Solar Charger)

So I can watch all the Sports (Cricket and Motorsports being priority)
