Well would you believe it....

"The city of Augsburg became concerned when they noticed a new phenomenon: Pedestrians were so busy looking at their smartphones that they were ignoring traffic lights.

The city has attempted to solve that problem by installing new traffic lights embedded in the pavement — so that pedestrians constantly looking down at their phones won't miss them."

It's a great one for "what is the world coming to", isn't it?  Or you could take the view that it's a pragmatic solution to the way the world is.   Personally, I get fed up with having to swerve my wheelchair round these people, but there you are.

I'm sure I also read a while back where some country were looking at texting lanes on footpaths. Or it may have been an experiment.
